The present study analyzes judicial cases of self-induced abortion in the São Paulo Court of Justice, specifically those in which conditional suspension of the proceedings was applied. The main objective is to identify the presence of possible controlling images and gender stereotypes that are detrimental to women in defining the conditions for suspending the proceedings. The study is qualitative, based on documentary analysis. Theoretically, it draws on feminist approaches that explore the role of gender stereotypes in the reproduction of controlling images and epistemic injustices. In terms of results, we were able to identify the use of harmful stereotypes against the female defendants, particularly in cases where the conditions for conditional suspension exceeded the minimum requirements established by law.
