NEOLIBERALISM AND ANTIFEMINISM
THE GLOBAL ESCALATION AGAINST WOMEN
Abstract
This work aims to analyze the antifeminist politics recently implemented in Brazil, observing their intimate relation with neoliberalism and the ascending antidemocratic processes. To this end, it conducts a research of qualitative and bibliographic methodology, making use of the theoretical tools brought by decolonial feminism. Firstly, it notes how gender is a modern category that is being manipulated by capitalism, and follows with an examination of the distinctive manner through which the neoliberal global order affects women. Finally, it addresses the deepening of conservative and neoliberal forces in Brazil, a process which in turn leads to the consolidation of feminists as enemies of the State. The results indicate that the antifeminism being observed in the country today is much more than the discourse of a specific social group, it is a powerful political tool, permeated by neoliberal and conservative aspects, culminating in a brutal attack against women and their bodies.
