The research aims to analyze the urban space regulation in the 1920s in the United States and the influence of the 1929 crash for the reconfiguration of the civil construction sector and the American real estate market. It seeks to answer what is the impact of the urban regulation instruments in the Roaring Twenties as factors that trigger the great depression? The objective is to provide subsidies for understanding contemporary issues that also have a cause-and-effect relationship with urban policy issues, such as the 2008 crisis. To do so, it begins with Neil Brenner's concept of spatial keynesianism. Then, it analyzes the Better Homes in America program, the Standard State Zoning Act and Planning Act. Finally, it verifies the decline in these urban zoning instruments in the great depression. The economic law applied to urbanism is used as a method that verifies the importance of the economic urban space regulation in the highlighted period.
