Abstract

The study presented here aims at classifying and analysing the different uses of the verb ficar from a semantic point of view, following a functionalist approach. This description concerns the Brazilian variety of the Portuguese language.

Ida Rebelo, PUC-Rio

Doutora em Linguística pela PUC-Rio. É professora na mesma instituição. Tem apresentado trabalhos em inúmeros congressos (no Brasil e no exterior) e tem feito conferências em diversas universidades, nomeadamente em Portugal. Publica, regularmente, em revistas da especialidade e é membro de projetos internacionais.

Paulo Osório, Universidade da Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal.

Doutor em Linguística Portuguesa, com pós-doutoramento na PUC-Rio na área de Letras – Estudos da Linguagem. É professor na Universidade da Beira Interior (Covilhã, Portugal) e investigador, em Linguística Comparada, no Centro de Linguística da Universidade Nova de Lisboa. É autor de livros e artigos (em Portugal e no estrangeiro) em revistas da especialidade. Tem proferido conferências em universidades portuguesas e estrangeiras (nomeadamente PUC-Rio; UFF; UFRJ; USP; Heidelberg; Bonn; Caracas, entre outras). Apresenta, regularmente, comunicações em congressos nacionais e internacionais.
