Why (,) Suzane? 10 years later is a work about the most famous case of family crimes in Brazil, the murder of the couple Marísia and Manfred Von Richtofen occurred in October 2002. The purpose of this article is to reflect on the construction of the family crimes’ representation, on the social order maintenance and on the cultural imagery about the monstrosity of the criminal subject, which are made possible by media discourse. To this end, it will be important to consider the visibility of the Richtofens’ case, the reason of its fame and reference when it comes to violence and barbarism, and try to realize the unreasons that caused this crime in the ideals of psychoanalysis. How do this act of violence and the representations that are made of it undermine the structures of social order? Other family crimes, similar to Suzane’s, will be analyzed to understand such issues.Downloads
