Abstract

To describe the use of the knowledge translation model to guide the construction of a representative diagram of the nursing care protocol for people with Parkinson's disease and their families in Primary Care. A methodological study, conducted between March 2020 and December 2021, focused on creating nursing care tools using the Knowledge-to-Action Cycle model for knowledge transla[1]tion. The study was developed based on demands identified through a university extension project linked to a mutual aid group for people with Parkinson's disease, highlighting the need for specific protocols in Primary Care. The stages included literature review, workshops with nurses and other healthcare profes[1]sionals, and the active participation of patients and family members in the support group, ensuring that the protocol was adapted to the needs and realities of this public. The Nursing Protocol for the Care of People with Parkinson's Dis[1]ease in Primary Health Care comprises 40 recommendations, structured into the following dimensions: clinical assessment, management of daily living activities and instrumental daily living activities, family approach and support systems, environmental factors, and management of personal factors. The protocol may assist nurses in translating recommendations on health promotion practices into clinical activities aimed at people with Parkinson's disease in Primary Care. The inclusion of the mutual aid group in the protocol development process reinforces the importance of university extension as a tool to bring together the academia, healthcare professionals, and the community.
