This research seeks to reflect on the proposal of the Secondary Education Reform, bringing relevant discussions that involve the private interest in this scenario and a structural change in the secondary education curriculum also through the publication of the Common National Curriculum Base. It provides a historical overview of the interest of Brazilian business in public education, culminating in the rise of Michel Temer, who speeded up, with authoritarianism, the process of this neoliberal reform. It points out the so-called curricular flexibilization by the Government as a fragmentation and dilution of the curriculum. It recognizes the government's arguments for changes in the curriculum as fragile and inconsistent. It reflects on the dilution of disciplines in areas of knowledge and the non-mandatory nature of these components throughout the stage. This investigation is, therefore, an alert to reflect on the current scenario of secondary education in the country.
