This article presents a review of the vulnerabilities suffered by indigenous people, regarding access to higher education; in this sense, it is verified that, even though in recent years new public policies have been implemented for the admission of the vulnerable population to higher education, these have been insufficient in terms of the inclusion of members of indigenous communities. For this reason, the creation of inclusive public policies and affirmative actions is examined, aimed at promoting access, permanence and graduation from higher education, by indigenous students, based on equity and justice, from a critical perspective and with a focus on overcoming the challenges they face, to guarantee fair access to opportunities. The methodology used is qualitative and quantitative, through which figures are verified on the percentage of the indigenous population that has accessed higher education in recent years, in a comparative analysis between Brazil and Colombia; to verify what measures with a differential approach should be taken to guarantee full access to higher education for members of indigenous communities.
