This article presents an analysis of the contemporary quilombola movement in the Lower Amazon region, in the state of Pará. The study examines the legal framework that supports the struggles of these communities and how social practices influence the processes of recognition of their territories. The text highlights the relevance of fundamental rights, the Brazilian Constitution of 1988 and the Legislation of Pará to guarantee the territorial rights of quilombola communities. In addition, it addresses the different fighting strategies adopted by quilombola movements and the forms of social organization they use to defend their interests. Finally, the article points to the need to deepen the debate on territorial issues and the protection of the rights of quilombola communities, especially when they are enmeshed in a context of growing pressure from agribusiness and the exploitation of natural resources in the Amazon region.
