This paper aims to disseminate the historical experiences of researchers and professors in the field of humanistic studies in Brazil during the last quarter of the 20th century, particularly at UFF/ICHF. Analogous to the innovative intellectual experiments of the Frankfurt School, these experiences are referred to as the Niterói School, with special emphasis on the irreducible political resistance of Ana Maria Motta Ribeiro. It recounts her involvement in the creation of a collective of intellectuals that, at the height of the military dictatorship following the 1964 coup, resulted in the founding of Socii – Researchers’ Association in Social Sciences.
