Abstract

This paper aims to study the conciliation mechanism carried out by the Judicial Centers for Conflict Resolution (CEJUSC) in the State of Maranhão, with a case study in the city of Balsas, seeking to verify if such a policy effectively reduces jurisdictional conflict through the practice of conciliation. For that, a field survey was carried out, where a questionnaire was applied to the conciliators who carry out the conciliation activity in said center and the coordinator of the center was interviewed. The production of the questionnaire allowed the tabulation of data, which in addition to enabling the quantitative analysis of the data, enabled a qualitative analysis of the procedures and the expectations of the interlocutors with their own activity. Regarding the bibliographical revision, this focus focuses on the object of the text, emphasizing the theoretical problematization of conciliation, mainly because in the center there are no mediations or other practices. In the end, we have been able to identify deficiencies and areas of potential for its development.
