This article aims to present the result of research performed by members of the Laboratório de Fontes de Estudo da Linguagem – Corpus/ PPGL/UFSM, having as object the file policy for Documentary Funds. The experience reported in this article is the creation of the Neusa Carson Documentary Fund. Carson was an important linguist for the disciplinary constitution of language studies in the Brazilian context. The main concepts used are file, memory, event in relation to Discourse Analysis and History of Linguistic Ideas.
