Storytelling with Women

an invitation to other ethical-aesthetic-political research practices

Abstract

This article emerges from concerns arising from research conducted with women experiencing gender-based violence, within the context of group meetings held at a specialized university clinic. It embarks on a trajectory that posits the inseparability of political and aesthetics, content and form, to advocate for an ethical-aesthetic-political project that stands in opposition to the ideals of scientific neutrality and the violence of objectification of those who coexist in the processes of research construction. Consequently, we initiate a situated and partial critical-analytical and experimental-essayistic endeavor, from which we explore alternative modes of academic production. Specifically, we propose storytelling as a potential tool that enables the materialization, through creative language, of the reverberation of violence within the bodies of women, and particularly within our own bodies as researchers and listeners. In light of this, we extend an invitation to conceive of knowledge production that seeks to delineate and lend existential weight to the processes of construction and destruction observed therein, so as to facilitate the emergence of worlds grounded in the multiplicity and dignity of women's life forms.
