Abstract

This article is the result of the undergraduate thesis in Social Work at the Federal Fluminense University. Its objective was to analyze academic education in Social Work, considering the necessary presupposition of addressing the ethnic racial issue, which has long been absent within the professional field. In the current social context where racism and the ideology of racial democracy have been exposed, it becomes necessary to question professional education that, if aligned with the Ethical Political Professional Project, will be attentive to these issues and will adopt an anti racist perspective, not contributing to the reproduction of racial inequalities. Through a review of literature and documents, as well as experiences in the field of internship, this article proposes a reflection on the extent to which professional education should be ongoing in order to ensure the rights of the historically marginalized black population.
