Abstract

We aim to explore the relationship between the perceptions of competence and of experience and the Situational Self-Efficacy of Teachers and of future Portuguese Teachers in their inclusive Physical Education classes. Participants were 177 subjects and the Portuguese version of the Self-Efficacy Scale for Physical Education Teacher Education Majors towards Children with Disabilities was used. Significant differences were observed for Perceptions of Competence and Quality of Experience in the three subscales analyzed: Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability and Visual Impairment. Findings from the study suggest that the quality of the perceived experience and competence influences the self-efficacy in the teaching process in an inclusive context in Physical Education classes.
