Abstract

This article seeks to demonstrate the origins and developments of the event that became known as the May Day of 1937, which is understood here as the epilogue of a revolutionary process that had started in Spain after a failed military coup attempt, which resulted in a bloody and essential civil war. For that purpose, some anarchist journals will be used, such as Solidaridad Obrera and Boletín de Información, as well as minutes of meetings and official Decrees of the governments of Catalonia and Spain.
