Abstract

This article elaborates the processes of memory construction and how they are influenced by popular culture through cinema. To illustrate these processes, we analyzed the framing of the memory made by the film Schindler's List (1993), from director Steven Spielberg. We studied how the choice for a classic cinematographic narrative, which has convergences with the historiographical narrative, constructs the work in such a way that it becomes part of the historical memory, converting Spielberg into authority when the theme is the history of the Jewish genocide.
