This article intends to make considerations about the sociogeny of rural workers inserted in a context of violence and right violations in rural communities in Jaqueira, Pernambuco. Located in the state’s Zona da Mata Sul, it is a region historically marked by several contradictions between the large sugar plantation and indigenous people, maroons, rural workers and family farmers. The main object of the analysis is a video report produced by the Leia Já portal, entitled “Marked to die: the drama of family farmers sworn to death, in Jaqueira (PE)”. In it, Ernande, Adriano and Branco, residents of the community of Fervedouro for generations, describe in detail the violence committed by representatives of an economic group linked to the sugarcane bourgeoisie, which seeks to appropriate the territory and evict the families. Starting from the fanonian concept of sociogeny (FANON, 2020b) as an analytical premise that brings into play the influence of the concrete historical context in subject’s formation, i will try to identify reports of individual and collective changes and affectations, which can be translated as resulting from the violence suffered by the communities. With the results obtained, we seek to highlight the need to consider the affected subjectivities as factual elements to demonstrate a process of violation of rights, as well as other objectively measured data.
