This article addresses the issue of domestic and gender-based violence in the city of Mossoró/RN, with the aim of highlighting the need for social awareness and sensitization and of emphasizing the relevance of public policies to combat gender-based violence, specifically the work of the Maria da Penha Patrol (PMP). The work provides a detailed overview of the implementation and operation of the Maria da Penha Patrol in the Municipal Civil Guard of Mossoró, highlighting its role in supporting victims, supervising compliance with protective measures and analyzing incident statistics that include geographic and temporal information. The patrol operates on two fronts: responding immediately to incidents of violence, ensuring the safety of the victim and restraining the aggressor, and offering support to victims under protective measures, monitoring their well-being and monitoring compliance with court decisions. The results obtained include the reduction of cases of domestic and gender-based violence, public awareness and empowerment of the women involved, which contributes to the development of a society that yearns for greater security and justice. The article also emphasizes the need to promote research to evaluate the effectiveness of public policies aimed at women in situations of domestic and/or family violence, as well as the importance of collaboration between health professionals, local communities and other sectors of society to break the cycle of violence, while suggesting strengthening the defense of women's rights in the municipality and expanding the assistance network for women in vulnerable situations.
