Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to narrate the experience of the Teaching Project "What can a body?" from the Universidade Federal Fluminense in the workshop held with classes from the Jackson Figueiredo Municipal School. It took place in 2020 in an online format, through the ZOOM application, due to the world pandemic of the Coronavirus. We held the workshop in the month of November, known as the month of Black Consciousness, marked by the death of Zumbis dos Palmares, one of the greatest quilombola leaders. In this sense, we chose to work on the history of Hip Hop for being a cultural movement coming from the peripheral and black community of the United States. We took references from black artists and precursors of the Hip Hop movement as well as black and Brazilian dancers who are active in the urban scene. Next, we taught some basic steps that resulted in a short choreographic sequence for the students to record and post on the application Tik Tok, widely used and known among children and young people.
