Abstract

The article discusses aspects of the uses of music in the expansion of Rio de Janeiro's integral education, exposing the ethnographies of two Ethnomusicologist and history teachers who are busy at two Schools of Tomorrow located in two poor neighborhoods of the city of Rio de Janeiro: Maré and Senador Camará. Thus, it seeks to reflect on the involvement of musicians in compensatory educational projects and simultaneously explore the limits of the ideal of music as a resource for social justice.
