URBANOCENTRIC THINKING: AND A DIFFERENT REALITY IN THE INSIDE OF AMAZONAS
Abstract
The COVID-19 pandemic that devastated/and is still ongoing on the planet, affected various aspects of society, and education was no different. In view of this, the present work aims to analyze and discuss the remote teaching actions adopted by the Secretary of State for Education and Quality of Teaching-SEDUC/Amazonas during the years 2020 and 20221, considering the multiple and complex Brazilian realities, especially in the center-periphery and urban-country relations. The present article had as main methodologies the bibliographic review, field work, interviews with teachers and students of the public SEDUC/Amazonas network. The main results were: a) the vast majority of teachers were uncomfortable with the need to use digital platforms “from day to night”, without any prior training; b) difficulty accessing the internet in most municipalities in the Amazon; c) and mainly the reality of the students, who in most cases did not have a cell phone, much less the internet to follow the online classes. Given the above, the discrepancy of realities in education is noticeable.
