Abstract

The present work seeks to analyse the return of Peronism to the government in Argentina, carrying out a recapitulation of the mandate of Alberto Fernández as president (2019-2023). The starting point of the analysis refers to the difficulties that mark this period, after four years of government of the right (2015-2019). The work divides Fernández's period into different stages, and places the focus on the internal crises of the ruling party as a way of interpreting the contradictions that are present in said political space, based on the notorious heterogeneity and diversity of the government coalition. In this sense, the government's reaction in the context of the pandemic is first analyzed. Then, the crises provoked, firstly, by the defeat in the midterm elections, and, secondly, as a result of the growing tensions in the national economy. By way of conclusion, the end of the article outlines the perspectives regarding the country's political future in the last stretch of Fernández's presidential term.
