Abstract

This edition closes the first year of resumption of activities of Revista Ensaios de Geografia after a period of stoppage. Although 2020 was marked by adversities international context, and striking challenges in the aspects institutional aspects of the country, the effort to everyone involved to make this year's publications possible: readers, authors, reviewers, editors, collaborators, friends. To all of you our gratitude and wishes that in 2021 we can continue exchanging knowledge and producing knowledge, in an accessible and free way. The writings that open the number 12 refer to the record photo by geographer Caetano Franco. At the invitation of the editors, Franco provided one of his photographs of the Brazilian Amazon. THE intention to expose the theme and the region on the cover was to remember that in 2020 the forest registered a significant increase in the deforestation and fires, as well as indigenous peoples who live there have been hard hit by pandemic, not only because of the severity of the disease, but also precarious public health infrastructure. This edition contains contributions between Articles, Readings and Visualities of several authors, mainly students of undergraduate and graduate. In addition, a section was created called Pandemic to cover work on the theme that could not be contemplated in editions previous ones. In this way, this publication covers a wide range of subjects, with emphasis on the applicability of policies on the national scene. We invite readers to reflect. Enjoy it!
