Abstract

The article is the result of observations of activities carried out with
the participation of children from the Aninga-Parintins / Am community, and aims to
reflect and understand the relationship of non-formal spaces and their contribution to
the production of scientific knowledge of riverside children. Non-formal spaces, in
the case of this study of riverside communities, are environments rich in natural
resources that allow children to have a direct approach to nature. To support the
research we used authors such as: Carvalho (2010), Gonzaga and Fachín-Terán
(2011), Pozo & Crespo (2009), Souza & Almeida (2013) and others.This work is
based on a qualitative research, whose observations were made from the classes of
Natural Sciences in non-formal spaces. We have the participation of ten children
who attended classes from the 1st to the 5th year of elementary school. For the
generation of data, we adopted as instruments: participants observation, field diary,
voice recorder, photography and videos. As a result, we highlight the importance of
using non-formal spaces for the production of scientific knowledge of riverside
children, as well as, valuing and recognizing the knowledge they produce in their
daily lives, making possible to take a new look at children's production.
