Conflict of Interest Policy

When submitting the article, authors must: fill in, sign, scan and send as a supplementary document the Declaration of Responsibility and Conflict of Interest (step 4 of the article submission). Conflicts of interest can be of a personal, commercial, political, academic or financial nature. They occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts.

Adoption of similarity checking software

As part of its efforts to enhance academic integrity and prevent plagiarism in its publications, the Revista Eletrônica Ensino, Saúde e Ambiente has adopted a service to identify the similarity of texts using the CopySpider application as a basis. Up to 30% similarity of the text is considered acceptable; above this, after verification, the author is notified to carry out a review and plan to reduce this percentage to 30%.

Articles submitted for evaluation will undergo a technical review for plagiarism analysis using the Copyspider application. In the event of plagiarism, the editorial team will return the article to the author, reporting the problem. In the case of self-plagiarism, the maximum allowed is 10% of the text for articles or 50% when it is the result of a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation. Above this, the article is returned to the authors so that they can make the necessary changes and resubmit it to the journal.

Cases of plagiarism reported to the Journal after the articles have been published will be analyzed by the editorial team and, if the complaint is confirmed, the article will be removed from the Journal immediately. Penalties may also be imposed on authors.

Accessibility and Affirmative Action Policy

The Revista Eletrônica Ensino, Saúde e Ambiente, based on the intersectional discussions that its publications have been taking, is preparing a plan to be implemented with a view to greater and better accessibility for people with disabilities; and also possibilities for the implementation of an affirmative action policy, specifically taking care of the equity of the gender-race intersection, given the still small number of women in academic production and even more black women. Initially, we are already enforcing the gender and race equity policy in the formation of our editorial board. To this end, by 2025 we will have

  1. adopt assistive technologies (reading programs; interpretation of journal submission data in Libras, among other actions) that guarantee accessibility to scientific production for people with disabilities. Initially, we will implement assistive technologies for people with disabilities, people with low vision and deaf people, for whom Portuguese is not their first language, but LIBRAS.
  2. include in the editorial policy, specifically in the guidelines for authors, and in the composition of the editorial committee and ad hoc reviewers, the observation of the guidelines on Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER), which guide the reporting of information on sex and gender in the study design, data analysis and in the results and interpretation of the findings. With regard to the issue of race, we will implement the race-color questionnaire in the journal's register of researchers, as we believe this is the first step, since it is a valuable variable for building diagnoses on the production conditions of black and indigenous populations, and then building racial equity policies for the ESA.

The ESA encourages authors to self-archive their accepted manuscripts by publishing them on personal blogs, institutional repositories and academic social media, as well as posting them on their personal social media, provided that a full citation to the journal's website version is included.

To the extent possible under the law, the ESA has waived all copyright and related rights to Reference Lists in research articles. This work is published in: Brazil.
