Abstract

We present reflections on a social museology activity conceived and developed on Atafona beach, on the north coast of the state of Rio de Janeiro, by Grupo Erosão, with production by CasaDuna – Atafona's art, research and memory center. The reflections are based on research in the field of heritage, trying to think about it beyond its materiality, in the relationships between the territory and cultural practices. From a critical perspective to Euro-centric epistemic matrices applied to the field of culture, we analyze an experience of social museology that rehearses and gives rise to new modes of local action and environmental research.
