Abstract

This paper intends to analyze/report the author's experience in teaching in a school in the public municipal education system of the city of Rio de Janeiro. The school is part of an educational project that foresees, among other differentials, the inclusion in its curricula two daily sports classes for students from Elementary School II (6th to 9th grade). The analysis/report is made in an attempt to identify the limits and possibilities of the project between a sportivization process of the school and the search for a differentiated education, approaching the proposal of Integral Education. The paper is composed by a brief initial presentation on the origin of the project in 2012 and traces a brief history, highlighting the most relevant points - from the author's perspective - that guided the project to its current composition. From this background, the author presents his conceptions about the sportivization process and his concerns and perceptions regarding the insertion of the project in this process. Then, the author superficially presents a definition of Integral Education and the reasons that lead him to believe that the project can be a favorable element in the search for Integral Education. It is important to highlight that this paper is not intended to be exempt and will present the opinions and conceptions of the author who is inserted and active in the analyzed/reported project.
