Abstract

This article is the result of research that described and analyzed the feelings of male and female teachers working in secondary education in public schools in the city of Manaus in relation to their profession, experienced in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and from that experience the question whether they would continue in this profession. The pandemic context was abrupt and it became urgent and necessary for the school to take on the practice of a methodology that could handle the teaching-learning process using technological mediations that are part of society, but not yet fully disseminated and far from many realities of teachers and students. Given this perspective, this study has the following questions: how are the feelings of teachers, towards: their students, their working conditions, their workload, their training, their autonomy and pedagogical practice, your leisure time, your salary and how you feel in society in the current context. Its methodology is descriptive and explanatory research, using a semi-structured interview with qualitative analysis. It is inferred that there are so many favorable and unfavorable feelings for professional practice in this context, it was evidenced that the practice demonstrates the fragility of the Brazilian education system and the distance from quality education expressed in documents such as the Federal Constitution and the Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education. Unfavorable feelings were mostly highlighted in relation to the students, working conditions, workload, free time, salary, and how the professor feels about Brazilian society. The balance between favorable and unfavorable feelings were cited in relation to initial training and in relation to pedagogical didactic autonomy. Even with countless adversities, hope and perseverance in the profession were widely perceptible and described by the majority of professionals, who were adamant that they did not want to abandon the profession.
