Oskar Pfister and criticism of the freudian conception of religion

Abstract

The criticism that Freud makes to religion permeates all his work so that we can say that the religious question shown a big issue for him. However, it is clear that the vision that Freud has of religion is rather reductive and it is quite clear in many texts of this author. Oskar Pfister stands as a great debater of the religious question at the beginning of psychoanalytic movement showing the various gaps in Freud’s view of religion. This article aims to explain the criticism made by Pfister to Freud’s conception of religion in order to bring this element to the debate between psychoanalysis and religion.

Author Biography

Fabiano Veliq, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte, MG

Doutor em Psicologia pela PUC Minas (2015), Mestre em Filosofia da Religião pela Faculdade Jesuíta de Belo Horizonte - FAJE (2011), Especialista em Teologia Sistemática pela Faculdade Batista de Belo Horizonte. (2012). Graduado em Filosofia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (2008). Concluiu o Pós-Doutorado em Psicanálise na PUC Minas (2016) Atualmente desenvolve pesquisa pós-doutoral em Filosofia na FAJE onde pesquisa a obra do autor esloveno Slavoj ?i?ek e seu diálogo com a religião evidenciando a proposta de uma teologia materialista que investiga os principais temas da fé cristã a partir de uma visão ateísta de mundo. Pesquisa temas relacionados ao diálogo entre Teologia, Filosofia e psicanálise. Possui experiência na área de Filosofia, com ênfase em Filosofia da Religião, Teologia Sistemática, e Psicanálise. É professor Adjunto do curso de Filosofia na PUC Minas.
