Community garden and social psychology: an experience report

Abstract

The professional experience reported refers to the practice of supervised internship in Social and Community Psychology, developed in 2017, with an intergenerational community garden group. The work was carried out in a social assistance institution in a municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo. With the objective of promoting human development and fostering group formation among its participants, the practical activities developed in the garden were understood and organized as means-activities to promote group development and constitution. Over the course of the year, the intergenerational group held more than thirty weekly meetings in which, in addition to practical activities in the garden, there were also conversation circles, discussion of short films, group dynamics, among others. We highlight as main results of this intervention observed among the group members: the learning of various cultivation techniques; the strengthening of interpersonal relationships; the development of group autonomy and self-organization; and its constitution as an important support network for its members.

Possui graduação em Psicologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista "Júlio de Mesquita Filho" (UNESP/Bauru) e mestrado em Psicologia do Desenvolvimento e Aprendizagem pela mesma instituição. Atualmente é discente de Pedagogia (UNESP/Bauru) e docente no curso de Psicologia de uma IES privada. É pesquisadora do grupo de pesquisa TECER - Coletivo de estudos e pesquisas sobre Psicologia Escolar e Atividade Pedagógica. Principais temas de pesquisa: Psicologia Histórico-Cultural, Teoria da Atividade, Psicologia Escolar e formação de professores.

Wellinton Daniel Baptista da Silveira Bonaci, Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, Bauru, SP

Graduado em Psicologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (Bauru/SP); participou de projetos de extensão em Psicologia Escolar com o objetivo de fortalecer conselhos escolares municipais e trabalhou de maneira interdisciplinar em parceria com o Núcleo de Estudo, Pesquisa e Intervenção em Saúde (NEPIS) da Universidade Federal de São João del Rei (UFSJ), coordenando uma horta comunitária com usuários de um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial (CAPS). Atualmente é discente em Bacharelado em Biologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho” (Bauru/SP) e integrante do Grupo de Estudos de Biologia em Agroecologia (GEBA), organizando mutirões semanais de manejo agroflorestal.

Laís Sandi Foganholo, Universidade Estadual Paulista “Júlio de Mesquita Filho”, Bauru, SP

Psicóloga graduada pela UNESP (Bauru/SP) e formada pelo Método Bertazzo (São Paulo, SP). Atualmente, ministra aulas de Reeducação do Movimento do referido Método e pesquisa sua intersecção com a Psicologia do Desenvolvimento/Modelo Bioecológico e Psicologia Histórico-Cultural, além de prestar serviços de edição, revisão e formatação de textos acadêmicos. Militante do Coletivo Feminista Classista Ana Montenegro Cuiabá. Já atuou como psicóloga em serviços da Proteção Social Especial de Média Complexidade e da Proteção Social Básica da Assistência Social em Bauru, SP.
