Abstract

If it is clear that skepticism, in the modern scope, is conveyed in writing through the gesture of the essay, on the other hand, it is not evident how one experiences it in a classroom setting. This essay presents two alternatives to the professorial attitude in academic communication. The analogy is with the use of a musical score, as in a concert, where the skeptic reads a prepared text, and the handling of an open theme, as in jazz improvisation.
