The research proposes to recognise, map and
understand which are the main strategies used in the current
capitalism stage for artists and teachers to participate in a
current hegemonic societal project. To respond to the search
object, this research analysis of the differences and similarities
between two professional categories, artists and teachers. It
also addresses the role of the media as a vehicle that
encourages disputes within society, acting directly in memory
construction and disseminating discourses that classify teachers
as discredited professionals and artists as celebrities. Based on
the observation that capitalism has chosen culture as the main
21st century’s commodity, this research is based on the cultural
capitalism concept, as conceptualized by the cultural critic
Fredric Jameson.
