EDITORIAL POLICY

Trabalho Necessário is a quarterly publication of the Núcleo de Estudos, Documentação e Dados sobre Trabalho e Educação - NEDDATE, linked to the Graduate Program in Education and the Faculdade de Educação da Universidade Federal Fluminense - UFF. It publishes results of research and studies on the world of work, human formation and historical relations between work and education. It is directed to teachers, researchers and undergraduate and graduate students, especially in the areas of social sciences and humanities.

The journal seeks to recover in its title one of the central concepts of Marxian thought, that is, work as a vital activity of the human species, understanding that the political clash - theoretical and practical - for the overcoming of the commodity producing society cannot be left aside. Finally, work will always be necessary.

The subjects sheltered by Trabalho Necessário will be preferably linked to human formation and educational practices that take place in the institutional sphere or in the movements and struggles that take place in different social spaces.

The editorial line of Trabalho Necessário is based on the effort to understand and reconstruct, on a theoretical level, the different social mediations that constitute the relationship between the world of work and education, choosing as a theoretical-methodological reference the historical materialism, which guides the critique of political economy, leading to a historical vision of class society. By seeking in the phenomena the multiple determinations or mediations that constitute them, relating part all, subject-object or subjectivity-objectivity, past present, within a historical totality, historical materialism is opposed to idealist, empiricist, structural-functionalist, post-structuralist and postmodern referentials that also analyze capitalism in different ways. In this sense, the editorial line of Trabalho Necessário considers that, in societies divided into antagonistic social classes, the production of knowledge is always linked to a certain conception of reality.

It follows that, in the permanent dispute of reading the meaning of reality, the mere sum of theories becomes impossible, as eclecticism intends. Obviously, however, as Gramsci suggests, there may occur incorporations of aspects of the theories in dispute, which contribute to the understanding of reality in the broadest possible way.

Finally, the journal Trabalho Necessário clarify that it is open to the appreciation of texts that are based on theoretical-methodological references divergent from its editorial line, as long as they explain an internal coherence in the ontological and epistemological scope, and that stimulate a fruitful debate in the critical relationship with this editorial line.

Sources of Support

All work is collective and has an educational principle. However simple or complex it may be, we need help, support or help from many people. This is how the magazine TrabalhoNecessário is published. In all its elaboration process until its entry on the air, many actors and authors act for the journal's greater concretization, which is the socialization of scientific knowledge, of such an expensive frame of reference for us: the historical and dialectical materialism. To thank everyone, without forgetting nobody has been our constant concern. In this sense, we want and must make a special thanks to Daniel Tiriba, who even though not linked to UFF, has a great sense of belonging to the journal. In the figure of Daniel, we thank all those who support and concretize with us the materiality of each TN. And we say to each subject how much Work is needed for the socialization of knowledge, as well as for the radical transformation of social relations.
