Vol. 1 No. 40 (2023): Dos Pioneiros aos Contemporâneos: que há de Instituinte na Educação?
When we created the theme of this issue, we were experiencing the end of a government in Brazil that stifled founding initiatives. Inspired by the renewing airs in politics, we seek to articulate contributions from thinkers and educational movements of reference in the history of Brazilian education, as a driving force for rethinking the pedagogical proposals of Brazil that we want to (re)build.
However, despite seeing many instituting constructions in these first months of the current government, whose slogan is “Brazil - Union and Reconstruction”, the authoritarian echoes and reduction of funds from the past government still reach us. Added to local conditions are the hardships of a world that is experiencing drastic climate change, wars, famine and the resurgence of intolerance of all kinds. Those who are carrying out work in basic education schools live with children, young people and adults affected in their learning by the pandemic caused by the Sars-COV 2 virus.
Despite this, we launch the challenge: what is instituting in educational proposals from the pioneers of education to the contemporary? In response to this instigation, we present reflections and research results from authors in Brazil and abroad committed to movements for building new paths in the educational context.
